Moving the AD LDS Database to Another Forest Domain

Hello Team,

We're currently in the process of upgrading the Quest Server from https://greenleafguru.com a legacy version to the latest operating system. As part of this upgrade, we're attempting to move the ADLDS (Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services) Database instance to another Forest Domain server. However, we've encountered an issue during this process.

When configuring the ADLDS on the new server for replication, we're receiving an error message that states: "The replication credentials are not valid or insufficient. Please provide https://herbalhighsociety.com the credentials of an account that has replication permissions for the specified server."

We've tried configuring this using both the currently logged-on server account and a separate account, but the issue persists.

Could you provide any assistance to help us resolve this situation? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Further to  comment below, I would also recommend that at the same time you add the accounts of those performing the migration to this group as well.  I.E. the accounts they use to login to the QMM machine with.

You will note that when you are in ADSIEdit, the Administrators of the instance are found under "Roles" and within the the role "Administrators", you will add the users in question to the member property.
