Notes

  1. InTrust for Syslog setup requires Windows Installer 2.0 to be installed. Earlier versions of Windows Installer are automatically upgraded during installation, so you may have to reboot your computer after the installation is finished.
  2. When configuring the user account selected to run the InTrust for Syslog Service from InTrust for Syslog Manager, it must be granted the "Access computer from network" privilege.
  3. During setup the "Log on as a service" right is automatically granted to the account selected to run the InTrust for Syslog Service.
  4. You cannot cancel the InTrust for Syslog setup immediately after the "Ready to Install" step. Wait until it starts copying new files.
  5. If you are upgrading from EventAdmin Syslog Proxy 1.0 and install only InTrust for Syslog Manager, all your EventAdmin Syslog Proxy Service settings and parser chains will be lost. To avoid this, upgrade the EventAdmin Syslog Proxy Service as well.
  6. If you have problems connecting to the InTrust for Syslog Service, check your DCOM application permissions with the DCOMCNFG.EXE utility. For details see InTrust for Syslog technical documentation. Note that the DCOM application permissions should always be configured as in case of a remote InTrust for Syslog installation.
  7. If you have used InTrust for Syslog Manager to configure a remote InTrust for Syslog Service, and have saved the MMC settings, the next time you run InTrust for Syslog Manager it tries to re-establish a connection to the remote Service. This may take some time, especially if the connection attempts fail (i.e. the remote computer is off).
  8. To update the InTrust for Syslog license on a computer where only InTrust for Syslog Service is installed, run the InTrust for Syslog setup, specify the new license and cancel setup.

Known Issues

B000001 If the computer on which you are installing InTrust for Syslog has Windows Installer of version less than 2.0, you will not be able to run InTrust for Syslog from the Start | Programs menu until you reboot. To avoid this, consider installing Windows Installer 2.0 or higher prior to installing InTrust for Syslog.
B112381 You may get the following error message while upgrading or uninstalling InTrust for Syslog:

"The file C:\Program Files\Quest Software\InTrust for Syslog\easlpcdb.mdb is used by another process. You must terminate this process to continue installation."

To continue with upgrade or uninstallation, either wait for up to 5 minutes and click Retry or click Cancel, log off, log on and run the (un)installation again.
