Welcome to Quest Management Pack for Oracle-Operations Manager 2005 Edition

Quest Management Pack for Oracle-Operations Manager 2005 Edition monitors the performance and availability of Oracle databases in Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems. By detecting, alerting, and automatically responding to critical events and performance indicators, this management pack identifies possible Oracle database(s) service outages. Using extensive embedded expertise, Quest Management Pack for Oracle allows you to proactively manage Oracle databases and avoid costly service outages. Ensuring that your Oracle databases are available and working correctly requires that database professionals highlight performance, health, and availability conditions that indicate end user satisfaction. Quest Management Pack for Oracle goes a step further by assisting you with a level of customer responsiveness that increases the overall availability and performance of your Oracle databases, reducing the resolution time of issues identified.

New in This Release

Monitoring multiple hosts from a single agent:

Quest Management Pack for Oracle is now capable of monitoring multiple Oracle hosts from a single monitoring agent.

Agent-based and Agentless Monitoring:

The monitoring agent can now be configured to monitor remote Oracle hosts in addition to Oracle installations on the local host. Remote monitoring requires no footprint (no installed or running applications) on the host being monitored. Monitoring local Oracle installations requires less processing overall, while monitoring remotely offloads most of the processing required to a separate host. The data and views generated by Quest Management Pack for Oracle is functionally equivalent for both kinds of monitoring in this product.

Extensive platform support (Windows, UNIX, and Linux):

Troubleshooting enhancements:

Configuration import:

Configuration files from both 1.0 and 1.1 can be imported into an existing agent. This simplifies the moving of monitoring agents from one machine to another, and upgrading from previous installations of Quest Management Pack for Oracle.
