Overview

Quest Knowledge Portal 1.0 provides users with a unified reporting platform for a variety of Quest products. Quest Knowledge Portal was designed as a successor to Quest Compliance Portal and Quest InTrust Knowledge Portal, also being based on Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, further extending its capabilities to provide easy report management and delivery.

Report Migration Wizard will help you make your favorite reports available to Quest Knowledge Portal. The solution includes the following files:

  1. RMW 1.0.28.01.msi - Report Migration Wizard installation package
  2. Readme.htm - this file

Using Report Migration Wizard

After you install and configure Quest Knowledge Portal, you can migrate your favorite reports there.

Launch the Report Migration Wizard installation package (.msi); follow the setup steps, selecting the wizard from the list of features to install. After installation, run the tool, for example, by selecting Start | Programs | Quest Software | Report Migration Wizard | Report Migration Wizard.

Follow the steps of the wizard:

  1. Specify URL of your SSRS Web Service (Report Server) that processes the reports (i.e., the reporting engine for your Quest Knowledge Portal). For example: http://my_sql_server/reportserver

Note that if your SSRS deployment uses HTTPS protocol, the URL should begin with https://

  2. From the Old reports list, select the reports you need and copy them to a new location under QKP node on the right. To copy subreports, select the corresponding check box. If you want to use your old reports instead of new ones with the same name, installed in Quest Knowledge Portal Report Packs, select Override reports existing in QKP check box.

  3. Next, map the data sources originally used by your old reports to the data sources configured in Quest Knowledge Portal. For that, click on any original data source in the list, and then select an item from the drop-down list of new data sources. It will replace the old data source in the migrated reports' settings.

  4. Complete the wizard.

You may verify Report Migration Wizard operation results, opening your Quest Knowledge Portal and looking for your reports in the new location.

Notes:

If copying model-based reports, consider the following:

If you copy a report associated with a product which is not present in the new QKP, the association will be cleared, and migrated report will have no product assigned.
