exchange 2006 & RR 6.1 LMU

Upgraded from sql 2014 to sql 2016. Tested backups ok. But email notifications gave "An error occurred initializing this message. Please contact support". Checked the and reset the default message. No change. Still get the same email message after a backup successfully completes. Thinking that upgrading from 6.0.1 to 6.1 would fix the messaging error, ran the core upgrade from 6.0.1 to 6.1, as well as upgraded the LMU to 6.1.

Backups are working, but launching LMU to look at exchange "2007" mount points, the LMU is stuck at screen "loading".  Does encryption on a DB affect the LMU's ablity to mount an encrypted repository?

  • Hi PeterHartman:

There are three issues here. The first is the ability of mounting a recovery point, the second is having the correct rights for being able to navigate to the Exchange databases and logs and at last but not at least  being able to actually access the Exchange data. If the databases are encrypted, I am not sure how you can access these databases otherwise than decrypting them (or mounting them on an Exchange instance on which the encryption keys were imported). I have opened a case with our dev team to find out if they can think of any way around.

Another possible situation (as it is not clear from your post) may be that you used bitlocker to encrypt the volumes. If it is the case, please check this KB for a better understanding as of how it works.

    Hope that this helps.

  • After subsequent reboots, the messaging is working correctly now; the only issue now is the LMU not being able to load additional servers in the same LMU session.
