InTrust for Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM) / Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS)

InTrust provides an enterprise wide compliance technology framework that plugs and plays with MOM and the Microsoft platform

Many organizations are using Microsoft’s Identity Integration Server (MIIS) or Identity Integration Feature Pack (IIFP) which are designed to provide a unified view of all known identity information about users, applications, and network resources. But auditing these application has been difficult, especially when trying to determine where a problem lies if undesired changes are made and synchronized.

InTrust provides an enterprise wide compliance technology framework that plugs and plays with MOM and the Microsoft platform and enables users to have a complete view across windows and non-windows systems.

Quest’s knowledge pack (or plug-in) for Microsoft ILM completes the enterprise wide compliance view by pulling the ILM meta-directory activities into the InTrust framework to provide a complete, consolidated picture.

Benefits

·         Enables organizations to answer the why, what, when and where of MIIS activity

·         Automates the collection of object changes initiated by MIIS activity

·         Collects and stores logs for an extended period of time for historical and forensic analysis of MIIS activity

·         Works with either MIIS or the Identity Integration Feature Pack (IIFP)

Organizations that have deployed MIIS or IIFP can experience the following auditing problems:

  • Logs are scattered across multiple areas
  • MIIS or IIFP databases
  • XML files
  • The information provided within the XML files is poor and contains very little information
  • Logs are lost when the run history is cleared and are not retrievable
  • Logs are not self sufficient to analyze the impact of a synchronization run

The Quest® InTrust Knowledge Pack for Microsoft Identity Integration Server can help. This technology enables organizations to collect, store and report on all MIIS and IIFP activity, helping organizations to better understand and troubleshoot their MIIS and IIFP environments. Detailed, easy-to-read reports are included as part of the Knowledge Pack as seen below and can answer:

  • WHERE the source of the modification flowed to and connected to other data sources
  • WHEN an object was modified by the synchronization rules
  • WHAT objects in other connected systems were affected
  • WHY synchronization rules caused object modifications in other connected systems

This Knowledge Pack enables IT organizations to meet their compliance and security objectives around identity management.
