Advanced Compression and Encryption for Oracle RMAN Backups

LiteSpeed® Engine for Oracle reduces backup and restore times by up to 50 percent and decreases backup size by up to 90 percent. It significantly lowers storage costs and delivers a solid return on investment — within minutes of installation. Plus, LiteSpeed Engine for Oracle secures your critical data with four layers of encryption and supports Oracle’s Media Manager architecture. It integrates directly with Tivoli Storage Manager and provides transparent integration with Symantec NetBackup. It’s tailored to your unique needs as an Oracle or cross-platform DBA, integrating seamlessly into Oracle’s Recovery Manager and export backup strategies.

  • Reduces backup size by up to 90 percent.
  • Reduces both backup and restore times by up to 50 percent.
  • Secures data with four levels of encryption (up to AES 256-bit).
  • Integrates seamlessly with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) via Oracle’s Media Manager interface. RMAN writes data through the interface, and LiteSpeed® Engine for Oracle compresses and/or encrypts the data on the fly. As each chunk of data is compressed, it is written to a target for storage.
  • Integrates transparently with Symantec’s NetBackup Platform (NetBackup). LiteSpeed Engine for Oracle can back up and restore data on the fly (through locally resident NetBackup client programs) to a Symantec NetBackup Platform.
  • Integrates directly with Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) without requiring a TDP agent — only the TSM API is required for integration. LiteSpeed Engine for Oracle configures itself to write to the TSM API. You can also configure optional TSM management classes.
  • Offers free functionality for export/import utilities.
  • Provides command-line compression for any file on the server.
