Netbase Bridge

A new version of Netbase Bridge has recently been released and is available for customers. This release contains new functionality and fixes for previously reported product issues. Here is a summary of the changes:

This document describes enhancements in recent versions, through Bridge 1.5 update 05, and BridgeXL 1.0 update 54.

• Attach Bridge output and log files to XM (Transaction Manager) by default. BridgeXL 1.0 updates 49, 52.
• Expand Bridge internal tables to handle current TurboIMAGE limits. Bridge 1.0 update 58.
• Set JCW to FATAL on error to allow MPE scripts to detect errors. Bridge 1.0 update 58.
• Improve Pseudo-Schema file handling: flag empty files in error, and don't destructively read Message file contents. Bridge 1.0 update 58.
• Enhance REPORTFIELDS output to identify offsets of fixed-length output fields. Bridge 1.0 update 59.
• Improve the handling of file-equated shadow filenames. Bridge will now store file relationships the first time they're supplied, and perform subsequent VERIFY commands without the user having to re-supply file equations. Bridge 1.0 update 59.
• Bridge will automatically remove database entries that correspond to partially-entered Shadow specifications; Bridge VERIFY will also now automatically clean up many classes of partial entries. Bridge 1.0 update 59.
• Removed unnecessary "do you want to try again?" messages. Bridge 1.0 update 59.
• Allow mappings for missing files to be deleted. Bridge 1.0 update 59.
• Automatically detect if user has AM/SM capabilities (or is database creator), and default to the ';' database password when opening user databases, when appropriate. Enhance password prompt to show the default password. Bridge 1.0 update 59.
• Fix to problem seen keeping queue files open when rolling to a new one. BridgeXL 1.0 update 50.
• Added ability to write output to duplicate message files, plus specify maximum size of output files. BridgeXL 1.0 update 51.
• Enhance Bridge LOAD to remove limits on size of unload file. Bridge 1.0 update 63.
• Enhance delete mappings logic to remove orphan Field-List entries. Bridge 1.0 update 64.
• Fix to allow re-mapping of set from one output file to another. Bridge 1.5 update 01.
• Fix data memory protection violation error with NBM logging. BridgeXL 1.0 update 54.
• Enhanced Bridge UNLOAD to ignore some kinds of historical database corruption; also enhance UNLOAD to warn and ignore unreferenced Field Mappings, and dump them to a temporary file. Enhance Bridge LOAD to automatically upshift any lowercase fields. Enhance UNLOAD and LOAD to improve error detection and reporting. Bridge 1.5 update 04.
• Added Bridge RELOAD keyword; performs UNLOAD and LOAD using $OLDPASS file. Bridge 1.5 update 04.
• Fix Bridge LOAD to work with IP Address filename syntax; changes to filename error messages. Bridge 1.5 update 05.
