Create a Single Point of Entry for VTAM Network Systems

NCI/XF is a unique programming tool for tailoring, customizing, extending and developing sophisticated single-point-of-entry VTAM network systems. NCI/XF enables every customer to implement future operational requirements across the whole network with precision and confidence. Furthermore, its multi-host function allows any number of front-end network control interfaces (NCI) to communicate across VTAM networks.

Features

  • Multi-Host Function – The VTAM command language includes a multi-host function that allows any number of front-end network control interfaces (NCI) to communicate across VTAM networks. A transaction-level interface provides communication to the network front end from any transaction in the network. Specific NCI/XF commands to control APPC and the TCP/IP connections allow communication to any platform supporting these protocols.
  • No Need for Assembler Knowledge – The VTAM toolkit provides the means to design and implement any function required across the network easily and quickly – without the need to use or support Assembler.
  • Efficient 4GL Command Language – The NCI/XF VTAM toolkit consists of a VTAM terminal control function, 3270 data stream manipulation via a dialog manager, and a powerful 4GL command language specifically designed for the VTAM environment. Many thousands of users can access any application, running on any host, anywhere on the network.
  • Full Error Recovery – The error recovery feature enables connection with any supported terminal type, even when the terminal definition is incorrect. This is useful when control units have to be moved and re-plugged, or whenever coaxial cable connections are plugged in incorrectly and the corresponding network definitions are not applied to VTAM (e.g. LOGMODE).

    • NCI/XF supports libraries and links with other programming language
    • Functionality is extended for 3270 terminals such as comprehensive data verification and complex calculations
    • Powerful commands handle tables, queues, chains and pushdown stacks
    • Issues enqueue and dequeue of a system- or user-defined resource
    • Interfaces with user-written Assembler or COBOL routines, invoked to perform installation dependent functions (e.g., dataset I/O) and supports routines in different address spaces
    • Dialog Manager allows you to set and resolve NCI variables or execute an NCI subroutine from within a user-written Assembler or COBOL routine
    • No restrictions on processing logic, PF key support or user-definable panel (number, type, format or linkage)
