Quest Central® for DB2
SQL Analysis
Quest Central's SQL Analysis component can save countless troubleshooting hours by collecting the complete SQL workload and making key processing details immediately available. When a workload is collected, every statement that the database processes is tracked and analyzed. Statements are then compressed and saved, along with execution details, in a SQL performance repository. Quest Central also lets you narrow the scope of your search by focusing on top statements, applications, users, transactions and connections.
Key Benefits
- Immediately identify most costly SQL statement, transaction, application or user and increases database performance
- Gain an understanding of your application workload, including frequently executed SQL and frequently accessed objects for better-informed tuning decisions
- Increase throughput by eliminating deadlocks
Key Features
- SQL Collection captures every SQL statement continuously or can use the sampling technique to collect activity intermittently (10 minutes every hour)
- Identifies peak database activity from the workload breakdown
to easily find resource-intensive SQL
- Instantly reveals top database users
, applications and SQL over a collected workload.
- Detailed object analysis identifies how often objects such as tables, indexes and views are accessed and how they are accessed
- Detailed deadlock reporting identifies each deadlock and provides details on the lock holder and those applications and users that were waiting for the lock
As part of the SQL Tuning session to improve performance.
Quest Central also lets you narrow the scope of your search by focusing on top
statements, applications, users, transactions and connections. Each approach
lets you identify problem statements by a number of different metrics including
CPU, sort time, execution frequency and I/O.
As part of the SQL Tuning module, SQL Analysis is integrated with other Quest Central components to facilitate quick problem resolution. Database Administration, Performance Diagnostics, and Space Management are only a mouse click away.
*This functionality runs
in distributed environments only.
