The Quest One Management Console for Unix (formerly Identity Manager for Unix) is a powerful Web-based, multi-platform console that centralizes and streamlines many of your most difficult Unix management tasks. It streamlines the management of local Unix/Linux/Mac users and groups, provides a common management interface for enhanced functionality added to sudo through Quest One Privilege Manager for Sudo, and enables administrators to report on key Unix identities, privileged access and policy information. The console provides a common management interface for the entire range of Quest One Identity Solutions designed for Unix, Linux and Mac environments.

  • Centrally Manage Unix Users & Groups – Empowers you to remotely manage local users and groups on Unix, Linux and Mac systems, replacing the cumbersome and error-prone process of box-by-box management. Key capabilities include:
    • Finds and manages existing local Unix users and groups throughout your environment through a single, centralized management console
    • Creates new local Unix users and groups throughout your environment from the same centralized management console
    • Securely manages local Unix user and group information over SSH
    • Runs the management console from Unix, Linux, Windows or Mac platforms and any of the most common browsers
  • Account Reporting – Quickly and easily provides auditors with granular reports on Unix identity information, including local Unix users, local user conflicts and all members of specific Unix groups, etc. The product also uncovers rogue or unused local accounts that may present security risks. 
  • Migration and Deployment – Provides a birds-eye view of all local Unix accounts and system parameters, giving you the information you need to determine which systems are ready for advanced functionality (e.g., Active Directory bridge technologies).
  • Management of Quest One Privilege Manager for Sudo – Integrates with Privilege Manager for Sudo to support centralized sudoers policy management, remote sudo plug-in installation and configuration, keystroke logging and replay and reporting.
  • Privileged Account Management Reporting – Centrally displays policy, access and usage information across any number of sudo-enabled Unix/Linux systems including access to keystroke logs.
  • Role-based Access Control (RBAC) – Granularly defines which users can use specific Management Console for Unix capabilities based on roles defined in Active Directory – ideal for enforcing separation of duties.
