SQL Navigator® 5.5.4

A new release of SQL Navigator is now available. For a full list of new features and bug fixes, please see the release notes.

This version includes:

• Support for Oracle 11g, with full support of case-sensitive passwords
• Support for Windows Vista
• Integration with SQL Optimizer 7.2
• Integration with Toad Data Modeler 3.0
• Integration with Knowledge Xpert 9.1.1

Please note SQL Navigator Standard Edition now includes an integrated PL/SQL debugger for trouble-shooting stored database code.

SQL Navigator 5.5

• Support for new Oracle 10g features (R1, R2, 10gXE) including Transparent Data Encryption
• Job Scheduler – manage all of your jobs, job classes, schedules, and programs in one central location
• Project Manager – keep track of what you’ve been working on
• The CodeXpert utility has been improved to provide multi-file support
• New Profile Manager lets you backup and restore your SQL Navigator user preferences for each version

• Support for 64-bit client OS has been added (32 bit Oracle client only)

• Editable code templates in a dockable window for quicker, more efficient use — customize them to suit your needs
• Citrix support: SQL Navigator can be published to users in a Citrix environment to ease administration and deployment
• New Snapshot Visual Object Editor — manage your snapshots and view snapshot data
• CodeXpert workflow enhancements
• Login window enhancements — view/edit TNS entries and manage multiple homes from within SQL Navigator
• Support for Oracle’s new Instant Client makes deployment and configuration even easier
• New customization options allow users to change layout
• Enhanced SQL Tuning via Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle with global index advice on multiple SQL, integrated index impact analysis on multiple SQL using simulated indexes, tuning with no source-code changes using outlines and plan change analysis to track execution plan changes in different database environment such as Oracle 9i to 10g migrations and init.ora changes.

• 256MB RAM/1GB*
• CD-ROM Drive (for CD based installs)
• XGA (1024x768) or better monitor
• DirectDraw 7 capable graphics adapter

NB: 110MB disk space required for Xpert installation, less for Standard & Professional Editions.
* 1GB RAM recommended for running SQL Tuning in Xpert Edition

Server configuration

SQL Navigator supports Oracle versions 7.3.4 through 11g. However it is recommended that you connect to Oracle 8.0.6 databases via Oracle client versions 8.1.7 through to 9i.

Please refer to the Oracle documentation for 10g instant client server compatibility.

Minimum Software Requirements

• For Desktop: Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista *Requires SQL*Net (32 bit) or Net8 for Oracle 8
• For Oracle Database: Version 7.3.4; 8.0.6; 8.1.7; 9i; 9R2; 10g and 11g
