Why Stat When You Already Have a Change Management System?

Many companies use change management systems to control the complexities of application change. Usually the change management system works in tandem with both a version control application and a help desk application. These combined systems, in theory, could fulfill an organization’s change management requirements enterprise-wide.

However, the primary deficiency in most version control systems is the limited focus on managing only flat file changes. That’s an important deficiency, when you consider packaged production applications for enterprises, such as PeopleSoft often store many formats of object definitions in both a central database repository as well as flat file formats.

Ultimately this means traditional flat file versioning programs become ineffective. This document will discuss this issue, the challenges it presents and how Dell Software’s Stat® application change management solution can address these challenges.
