Welcome to the On Demand Policy Management Policy Enforcement video demonstration.
Within the home page, on the On Demand portal, I'm going to click the go button under Skype for Business online policy management. Now, I'm going to select the tenant that has the rules and policies I want to demonstrate. Here, you can see that we have two rules; one is the global policy rule and one is the restricted rule. We also have two target users, Mike and Marjorie.
To start, the global rule has been applied to Mike and Marjory. This rule has no policy restrictions, so Mike and Marjorie are able to use any of the Skype for Business online features. Let's go to Mike's Skype for Business online client.
Here, I will start a conversation with Marjory, and send her a file. As you can see, the paper clip, or the file transfer button, is there, so Mike can send files. So I'm going to send this file.
Let's go over to Marjory's Skype for Business online client and accept the conversation, and select the download all link to receive the file. As you can see, Marjory was able to receive the file.
Next, I'm going to go back to the On Demand portal, and into the policy management module. Here, we are going to select the restricted rule. As you can see, the conferencing policy is set to [? BposAllModalityNoFT, ?] which means users in this rule and policies cannot send or receive files.
I am going to move the restrictive policy to the top of the rule queue, as rules at the top have precedence over the ones below. Changes to policies are automatically saved as rules move.
I am now going to enable the rule, by checking the enable box and clicking save. After 10 seconds, the screen will refresh. The green check indicates that the rule has been enabled and saved, and the provisioning of the new policy has started.
Note, it can take a few minutes or more for the new policies to take effect in tenant. The time required to process policy changes will vary based on the number of users impacted, and the overall performance of the Office 365 environment.
Let's return to Mike's screen, and open a conversation with Marjory. As you can see, the little paperclip, or file transfer button, is gone, so Mike can no longer send files.
Let's go back over to Marjory's screen, and open a conversation with Mike. Then let's transfer a file.
As you can see, the file transfer failed, as Mike's policy does not allow him to send or receive files.
