With VMware telling everyone to move to ESXi ASAP, it’s a good time to check your software dependencies. What does that mean? Checking your dependencies is basically making sure your supporting products support your platform before you upgrade to a major version or to a version that has a major changes. For example, if you have software that defrags your exchange database and you upgrade to a version of exchange that your defrag software does not support, there is a high chance that your exchange defrag will stop working. The same applies to VMware ESX before you upgrade to ESXi, you should make sure your supporting software works with ESXi before making the upgrade. Here is a blog on the topic.
