Welcome to Dell Migration Suite for SharePoint

Dell Migration Suite for SharePoint ® is an easy to use, yet powerful solution for migrating content, lists, libraries, sites and site collections between SharePoint environments, both on-premise and hosted (Microsoft SharePoint Online). Whether you are consolidating, upgrading or re-organizing your environment, Migration Suite provides a convenient and familiar way of moving your SharePoint data. You can simply drag-and-drop data to a new SharePoint location or use scheduled tasks to move larger data sets during off-hours.

 

With Migration Suite for SharePoint, you can also easily load files from network drives, import email items from Exchange public folders and classify legacy or imported content to unlock the full potential of SharePoint search and navigation.

Known Issues

The following is a list of issues known to exist at the time of Dell Migration Suite for SharePoint 4.6 release.

SharePoint Migration/Consolidation

Known Issue Defect ID
Created/Modified metadata is not preserved when migrating data to SharePoint 2007 with June 2010 CU and later (12.0.0.6539 and higher). You will need to install an extension service to the target SharePoint 2007 farm. Refer to the Migrating Created/Modified Metadata section in the User Guide for more information. CR000000
List permissions for SharePoint 2003 lists with unique security are not copied CR000000

 


System Requirements

Before installing Dell Migration Suite for SharePoint 4.6, ensure your system meets the following minimum hardware and software requirements:

Platform Intel x86, 1 GHz or higher CPU
Memory Min. 1.5 GB
Hard Disk Space Min. 250 MB
Operating System Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, 32-bit or 64-bit
Additional Software Microsoft Outlook 2007 or later (for Exchange public folders migration support)

 


Global Operations

This section contains information about installing and operating this product in non-English configurations, such as those needed by customers outside of North America. This section does not replace the materials about supported platforms and configurations found elsewhere in the product documentation.

This release is Unicode-enabled and supports any character set. It supports simultaneous operation with multilingual data. This release is targeted to support operations in the following regions: North America, Western Europe and Latin America, Far-East Asia, Japan.

 


Getting Started

Contents of the Release Package

The Migration Suite for SharePoint release package contains the following products:

  1. Migration Suite for SharePoint version 4.6 installer (32-bit and 64-bit).
  2. Alert Collector utility.
  3. Core Properties extension web service installer.
  4. Product User Guide.

Installation Instructions

  1. Run the Migration Suite for SharePoint installer.
  2. Activate the application using your activation code.
