Hello everyone,
I am currently facing some issues with the classroom computer monitoring software that we are using. I am hoping that someone here can provide some guidance on how to resolve these issues.
The software is meant to keep students safe and on-task when they use school-issued digital devices, but it seems to be doing more harm than good.
According to a recent report by the Center for Democracy & Technology, monitoring software can lead to disciplinary actions, law enforcement contact, and even out students without their consent. Additionally, some teachers have reported that the software can prevent students from seeking mental health support.
I have noticed that the software is very invasive, and it can shrink the distance between classrooms and carceral systems. I am worried that it may infringe on students' civil rights. Furthermore, it has been reported that some monitoring software has vulnerabilities that can allow hackers to gain full control over devices.
Has anyone else faced similar issues with classroom computer monitoring software? How did you handle it? Any suggestions on how to address these issues would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help
