DGE Error loading authentication module

Hi Experts,

I was trying to install the OneIM Data Governance Edition to an already existing OneIM 7.1.1 environment.

The service installation was perfectly fine however when the Activity Database is being created,  it says that the authentication module may not be activated or available.

I'm not sure if this is looking at the authentication modules available in the Designer and if so i can't see any named QAMRoleBasedADSAccount

Also for some context on the setup, i have an admin workstation with the identity manager tools installed. I have installed the DGE service on this server even though i understand that this is not recommended.

I have another machine with SQL Server 2012 installed that has the OneIM database installed and which is where i am trying to install the DGE Activity Database. This server also has the OneIM database service running on it.

The SQL Service account has all the permissions that specified in the deployment documentation.

The firewall ports mentioned in the document are opened on all the servers just to make sure it isn't related to the error

This is in my test environment (Virtual machines)

Any help would be appreciated as i'm fairly new to DGE

Thank you

Yahya

  • Hi,

Sorry, the KB is not currently public. Here are the steps:

    1. Run the Configuration Wizard under C:\Program Files\Dell\One Identity Manager (ConfigWizard.exe).

    2. Choose "Update database"

    3. Select the DataBase and installation source.

    4. Select "add new modules" and confirm you have a backup then click "Next".

    5. Ensure that "Data governance" is selected.

    6. Complete the wizard so that QAM gets added and can be enabled in the configuration parameters: TargetSystem\ADS\QAM.

In Designer go to Base Data | Authentication modules - check that QAMRoleBasedADSAccount is appearing and that it is enabled.

Let me know if this works for you.

  • Thanks for replying Trevor

I had a hunch i had to install the Data Governance module for the One Identity Manager database however i didn't want to post until it had been completed and actually worked.

So i added the module like mentioned in the steps above however after the update (which was successful) i still cannot see the QAMRoleBasedADSAccount in the authentication module list which is strange.

I can see the QAM configuration parameter under the TargetSystem\ADS node and i can also see the category Data Governance in the Manager which wasn't showing previously.

I continued with the Activity Database installation soon after and it completed without a hitch.

I am just a little concerned that i cannot see the authentication module in the designer.

    Thanks
    Yahya
  • Apologies it was in the Authentication modules list.
I must have missed it some how.
    Thanks again for the help
