Modify "Forgot My Password" Self-Service

Ok, we are in the process of pushing out the Secure Password extension but they asked if the "Forgot My Password" text to be modified.  Say I lock myself out and I am looking at the screen and all I see is "Forgot My Password".  Well I have not forgotten I just need to unlock it, they want it to be modified so I can and change it to Forgot/Unlock.  We are using 5.6.1 and I can't find anything on that.  Any help would be great.

Thank you,

Wade

  • PM adds new button to MSFT native options into Windows Logon Screen (ex-gina). After you Locked PC and got Logon screen, you supported to see the all MSFT options plus PM “Forgot My Password”
The actual name of the PM Button (string “Forgot My Password”) is set via GPO. PM provides GPO template file and very good description in pdf the manual, how to use it.
  • There is a known issue for the settings which should affect Windows 7.

    Here is the workaround:

Title: The "Forgot My Password" Link is not Customizable
    Solution Number: 141391
    URL: support.quest.com/.../141391
  • Reading the article, I don't see Policies on the WIN7 machine. Also, do I need to look at the GPO in AD? Because when activating the Policy I am unable to edit it AD, I get an error that I don't have access to that GPO. I am logged it with a DA account.
  • Hi Wade,

You need to create a GPO using the Administrative Template included in the SPE package (see "Administrative Template" folder, and assign itto the target machines in AD.
When configuring the GPO, you will find the setting to customize the "Forgot My Password" link here:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > One Identity Password Manager >
Generic Settings > Forgot My Password Settings
Enable 'Display custom names for the Forgot My Password button (command link)' AND
Enable 'Set custom name for the Forgot My Password button (command link) in <language>
entering the desired text for the link name in the 'Specify name for the Forgot My Password button (command link) in <language>'. Remember to use the default system language of your client machines when selcting the <language>.
When using Windows 8 or above also make sure you check the Windows 8 settings here:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > One Identity Password Manager > Windows 8 Settings > Secure Password Extension Tile Settings.

    Hope this helps.
