Change od Domain in TPAM

Hi Team,

we would like change the TPAM domain configuration from one domain to different domain.

What are the changes we need to do in TPAM configuration to change the domain.

Appreciate your inputs on this. Thank you.

  • Can you please give more information as to exactly what it is you are trying to achieve here.

When you say you want to "change the TPAM domain configuration from one domain to different domain", do you want to change the domain you are authenticating to or the domain you are managing resources in?

    Tim

  • Yes Tim.

We want to change the domain we are authenticating to and the  managing resources.

Currently our TPAM Appliance is configured with vmware.com. Now would like to change it to vmwtest.com

Please advise the configuration modifications need to be performed to achieve this. Thank you.

  • Ok so this is a simple one.

First login to the admin web I/F with a parmaster equivalent user.

Next select System Status/Settings | External Authentication | WinAD Config

    Click the New System button

Add the details of your new domain.

You can enter the IP address or the FQDN of your directory. I prefer the second option as the controller you enter the IP of fails you will not be able to authenticate but if you use the Domain (vmwtest.com) then TPAM will be able to authenticate to another controller.

Once you have added your new domain you will be able to select it as either a primary or secondary authentication source for each of your users.

To do this login to the TPAM web I/F and select Users menu and pick the user you wish to test with. At the bottom of the page you will see the User Authentication box. Your new domain will now be available from the drop down.

  • Thank you Tim.

Do we need to modify DNS settings and NTP settings also according to new domain (Vmwtest.com)

  • Hi Tim,

Please also confirm if the windows server on which this TPAM is hosted need to disjoin from vmware.com and join it to vmwtest.com for our requirement. Thank you.

  • TPAM DOES NOT participate in the domain. It is not joined to the domain.

You can configure TPAM to use multiple domains for authentication and then select which one you wish the user to authenticate against.

Think user of a stand-alone PC manually entering the credentials of the domain that they want to authenticate to. In this case TPAM is the stand-alone PC and user entering those credential automatically for you.

    Hope this helps.

    All the best

    Tim

  • Thank you very Much Tim.

Appreciated for your explanation on this.
