How to fix FGLAM/FMS unable to start after Linux operating system upgrade (CVE-2017-1000364)

Some of our customer are experiencing FMS/FGLAM down and unable to start after Linux operating system upgrade (CVE-2017-1000364) and I want share how to fix it.

Background: In June 19, 2017,  Redhat released a new fix which addressing the- CVE-2017-1000364 kernel: heap/stack gap jumping via unbounded stack allocations.

Impact:  This CVS fixing caused a new issue of Redhat multiple versions and all Linux systems which applied this CSV fixing “JVM crashes after updating to kernel with patch for Stack Guard flaw (CVE-2017-1000364)”

Solution: The resolution from Redhat is to upgrade to its newer kernel version.  https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3091371

Foglight workaround: If the customer is not going to upgrade the Redhat to newer kernel version, the workaround is to increase the thread stack size of the JVM to be -Xss2m or -Xss1280k.  https://support.quest.com/foglight/kb/230903
