Error 0x800706be. Cannot install AePAgent. Cannot determine the OS version. The remote procedure call failed. (source=AePwd.PwdInstEx.1).

hi, anybody have seen this error before.

our migration manager for AD has been working for syncing password between two forest for years and it stopped working all of sudden with the error message.

Any help is greatly appreicatel.

Good Day,

As it's not able to determine the OS of the Domain Controller it's attempting to push the exe out to, I would hazard a guess that it's a firewall port blocking the install.

Otherwise, I would say it's most likely the AV on the DC blocking it.

would this firewall issue be at the source forest or the target forest?

Depends. could have been either. You will need to read the log above the error, it will spell out the DC name that failed.
