Outlook 2010 authentication prompt

Hello,

Migration manager 8.12 for AD is run to perfom AD sync.

This sync is run 24/7 however during business hours we notice that users receive authentication -login prompts in the outlook sessions.

This subsides after the users type the password 2-3 times.

It is also noticed that when sync is stopped , such issues i not noticed.

  • Need more details about your environment: Source and target platforms, do you have the dirsync setup to copy security descriptors. did you accidentally setup a two-way sync? etc.
  • It sounds like you have the issue described by your article that you attached. You also have mentioned in previous posts that your Outlook users are not using cached mode which places a large amount of traffic on your network along with authentication requests. There is nothing technical involved from the DSA standpoint that can be done at this time. The DSA synchronizes attributes to AD through a DC.

Currently that DC is being overwhelmed, so you can do a couple of things:
    1. Follow the technet article and possibly increasing the values for your environment
    2. Stand-up another DC that you can point the DSA traffic to that won't be handling any of the other requests.
