Ongoing GUI issues.

Hi,

We run VRanger 7.3.1.38633, however we've seen these issues on previous versions.

The gui is slow to respond, sometimes you click 'Running Tasks' and it doesn't show them, sometimes scheduling a rep/backup it randomly shows another server for a second or two, which is quite worrying!

The gui frequently goes into 'not responding' when you're asking it to perform simple operations, such as move between Inventory and Jobs, or simply right-click a server.

Wondered if anyone else has seen similar issues?

    I would recommend you open a support case as this is unusual behavior for 7.3.1.  In the lab we are able to run many backup tasks concurrently with very little lag in the GUI.

    Some useful information for the case would be the CPU/memory of the vRanger server, is the vRanger server virtual or physical, size of environment, number of jobs/tasks, type of jobs(backup/replication), transport used, repository information, database used(embedded SQL or external?),

    Thanks, I'll gather some information and get a call support case raised - because we've always seen this behaviour, and it's so erratic in nature I just assumed it was product but it will interesting to see if we can get it resolved!

    You're not alone. I've been using almost every version since 7.0 was released and this slowness and "not responding" has been prevalent in all versions of 7.x. I have multiple vRanger servers that all have this issue. It's not really a problem, just slow. When it goes "not responding" and the GUI appears hung, it eventually comes back in 15-30 secs. Sorry Brian, from what I have seen, this is usual behavior in 7.3.

    I wonder how many Recent Jobs Ranger shows. Up till 7.5.0 "My Job" view performance was greatly affected by the number of Recent Jobs/Tasks. Devs made some attempts to optimize code in 7.5.0 although I still see "not responding" once in a while.
    To alleviate this behavior you can use purgeDB script that will reduce number of recent tasks, usually dramatically. Search this forum.
