Exchange Utility - reconstruct stripped messages

Hi, I'm running AM 4.8 (i know i need to upgrade) and I'm having an issue.

I've used the Exchange Utility plenty of times and never had an issue but recently with certain mailboxes the reconstruct isn't working.

It doesn't show any errors and there is nothing in event viewer but when i go back into the users mailbox the emails are all still archived.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

  • Hello itadmin_43337,

Try right-clicking on ExchangeUtility.exe and Run-As Administrator, or try running the .exe from Command Prompt (Administrator).

Also, to rule out any possible Exchange permissions with opening mailboxes, login as the ArchiveMgr_ESM account and try running ExchangeUtility.exe again. You should find either ExchangeUtility.wlog or EU.wlog within \Quest Software\ArchiveManager\Logs.

If that doesn't work it's best that you upgrade Archive Manager to the latest version so that we can best address the issue you're having.

    Thank you,

    Dave
  • Thanks Dave, i am working on migrating it to a new server but these rebuilds were first.
I normally run as (ESM user) and dont have an issue, i ran it on a test mailbox and it worked fine, but a small bunch of users (newly aquired business) it doesnt appear to work.

Thanks for the log location i have just found this error at the end, i removed the username

09:37:33.981 6 ERROR EU.UnstripThread Error while restripping Mailbox %username% = System.Resources.MissingManifestResourceException: Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture
  • sorry i missed the rest of the line in the log.

09:37:33.981 6 ERROR EU.UnstripThread Error while restripping Mailbox %username%. = System.Resources.MissingManifestResourceException: Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "AfterMail.Exchange.MAPI.Stubbing.Properties.Resources.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "AfterMail.Exchange.Utilities" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed.
  • Hi itadmin_43337,

Was there any updates to exchange, the server or the mapi/cdo client on that machine since the last time you used the Exchange Utility?

    Thanks,
    John Allan
  • nope, once i noticed it didnt work i did a different mailbox and it worked fine.
The only thing is these users are from a newly added email domain and imported to exchange from PST.
Not that ive had the issue before, we run multiple email domains.
  • Hello itadmin_43337,

I have sent you a PM to add you as a friend to take this offline and obtain information so that I can open a Service Request with Archive Manager on your behalf.

The issue you're having would be best addressed via an upgrade as this appears to be a legacy issue from 4.8.

Archive Manager 4.8 is no longer supported as per our Product Life Cycle table:

    support.quest.com/.../lifecycle

Additionally if you'd like you can visit https://support.quest.com or give us a call at 1.800.306.9329 and open a Service Request that way.

    Kind regards,

    Dave
  • Thanks David, ill talk over PM
