Quest Finance Team in Cyberjaya Continues Focus on Culture and Community

The Quest Finance team in Cyberjaya, Malaysia has embarked on a number of activities this year geared toward building the Quest culture and contributing to the local community.

First, the team participated in a Recycling Day in August, successfully collecting 276kg of recyclable items such as newspaper, papers, books, magazines, aluminum, steel, plastic and tetrapak, as e-waste such as televisions and printers. 100% of the proceeds from the recycling activity went to the indigenous minorities in Malaysia, Orang Asal. The indigenous Malaysians are mostly local artisans who struggle to make a living by selling handicrafts. The contributions made by the Quest Cyberjaya team go a long way toward supporting the local indigenous community and their endeavors in sustaining the traditional art. In return, the Orang Asal people gave the Quest team pieces of their artwork - handmade pouches - as a gesture of appreciation.

In September, the team partnered with the Dialogue in the Dark organization in Malaysia in support of the blind community. The concept of Dialogue in the Dark is simple. Participants are led by blind guides in groups through specially constructed dark rooms in which scent, sound, wind, temperature and texture convey the characteristics of the daily environments for a blind person . A reversal of roles is created: people who can see are taken out of their familiar environment. Blind people provide them with security and a sense of orientation by transmitting to them a world without pictures. This is not only a new experience, but also a life changing one for those who participated in the activity. It challenges the common belief of 'judging from our sight' and it helped the team to develop an understanding of mutual empathy. Our employees are grateful for the experience and happy to have played a small part in supporting the Dialogue in the Dark organization.

Our passionate team in Cyberjaya will continue to look for opportunities in the future to inspire social progress and deepen the ties between Quest and the local community we operate in.
