What causes a CAADHook dump file to be created?

We are using an older version of CA 5.5.104 and recently we are getting these dump files generated randomly on our DCs. Would like to know if there is a way to disable this, till we deploy a newer version of CA.

Thank you

  • Hi Randy,

These dumps will be created if there any exceptions generated to allow for investigation.

You can try set HKLM|Software|Quest Software|ChangeAuditor for Active Directory | DumpCount key to 1 to limit the # of dumps retained. The default is 2 on current versions - I think it might have been even higher on older versions like 5.x. The change requires re-start of the agent to take effect.

5.5 is from 2011 so likely getting to a current version (6.9.5) will resolve the underlying cause of the dumps or allow for further investigation otherwise.
