Computer reports

Hi,

I wish to generate Computer reports for local users and software/hardware inventory. The problem is that I am not able to view them because there are no discovery data for the servers.

What do I need to do to discover and get all the information ?

Do I also need to Extend WMI Classes to get all the software and hardware information ?

  • Hi Naveed,  In ER 3.0 and 3.1 there are reports for software inventory including any service packs (Also check in AD library and then the Health Check sub library) .  As for hardware, if you need a report with more than basic hardware configuration such as memory, processor type, BIOS version then yes you do need to extend the WMI Classes.  Once the Computer discovery has been run you will need to create a report that includes the new values you have selected and then export then to say, a CSV.  Just a note, as you know you need to perform two discoveries, Active Directory and Computer to get the data that is available for computers as they return information related to the systems from both areas.  You don't need to do a complete AD discovery and can select just the OU which contains the computers as this will save discovery time.

    Regards,
