We will have someone get back to you soon. What version of Enterprise Reporter does your client have installed?

    Thank you

    The current version is: 3.1.0.10000

    Thanks!

  • Hi

We understand that you need to add "Display Name" to nested users in NTFS reports. There are a number of steps required.

    1) Firstly the customer will need to run an AD discovery in addition to the NTFS discovery.
    2) Start Report Manager.
    3) Drag the report that you wish to change from the "Report Library" to the "My Reports" area. For example "Folder Permissions with Membership".
    4) Edit the report. A new dialog will appear ("Edit report definition").
    5) Select the "Parameters" tab.
    6) Locate and select the parameter "Expand Nested Groups (account Member)". Click "Edit".
    7) A new dialog will appear ("Edit Parameter"). In the lower-right corner you will see a button "Add Fields". Click this.
    8) A new dialog will appear ("Add additional fields to nested group members"). On the left-hand side expand "Domain User" and select "Display Name". Click "Add". Then click "OK".
    9) Click OK on the "Edit Parameter" dialog.
    10) Click OK on the "Edit report definition dialog.
    11) Run the report.

  • Hey,

I do this as you wrote.
It does add a field but without data.
In the same report I am able to add and see account name of members within a group

    Thanks!

  • Hi

I am sorry this didn't work for you. Let me investigate and I'll get back to you as soon as possible with more information.

  • Hi

We have some follow up information. The original instructions above should work for *nested* groups. Be sure to run an Active Directory discovery, as mentioned in step 1 above, this is important. The instructions above may not work for primary, top-level groups (i,e. non-nested groups). Perhaps this is the problem. So there are few more steps you can try:

Continuing from the last step in our original instructions above...

    1) Edit the report. A new dialog will appear ("Edit report definition").
    2) Select the "Fields" tab.
    3) Scroll down the list of fields on the left hand side until you see "Account Member" at the bottom.
    4) We now want to "extend the report type" by adding some more fields.
    5) Right-click on the "Account Members" item and a new dialog will appear ("Select the objects to add to the report type").
    6) Add check marks next to "Domain User" and "Domain Group". Click "Ok".
    7) You should now see more fields listed under "Account Member". You may need to scroll down to the bottom of the list again.
    8) Find "Display Name" under "Account Member->Domain User". Select it. Click "Add".  Be sure to select the correct field.
    9) You have now added the required new field, but it's not yet being displayed in the report layout.
    10) Select the "Layout" tab. Click "Edit".
    11) A new dialog will appear ("Edit Report").
    12) On the right-hand side you will see a "Field List" tab. Click to select it.
    13) Expand the "Table" list and you will see a list of fields. One will be the newly-added "Display Name" field.
    14) Click to select the "Display Name" field and drag it onto the report, below the existing "Member Name (Account Member)" field.
    15) Click OK on the "Edit Report" dialog the button is in the lower-right hand corner). Then click OK on the "Edit Report Definition" dialog.
    16) Run the report. You should now see the user display name for both nested groups and top level groups. You can re-edit the report to adjust the layout if you wish to improve formatting.
