How do I edit FSMCategory email notification

This is the email I get below. It is working just fine, but I want to go in and remove the HTML code. i.e. &nbsp

Email Subject: Foglight Service FSMCategory: OD Critical Systems has 2 new fatal alarms [Sep 11, 2018 1:44:14 AM]

Email Description: New alarms for Foglight service FSMCategory: OD Critical Systems
Fatal:&nbsp[Sep 11, 2018 1:44:04 AM]&nbsp (NetMonitorDeviceMeasurement: SERVER01 to ODSERVER02 (1.1.1.2) (NetMonitorDeviceMeasurement) (1.1.1.2 Public Network SERVER01))&nbspNetwork Device Availability Check:&nbsp Device is unavailable. Network device ODSERVER02 is not reachable from SERVER01.

Can anyone tell me where this is located so I can edit it?

  • Hello Daniel,

the alarm message can be modified in the rule condition.

First, you need to find the rule which creates the alarm. Connect to Foglight, go to the Alarms dashboard and open the alarm. There you will find an Origin or Source field which shows the rule. Now go to the Administration -> Rules & Notification -> Rules dashboard, find the problematic rule and click on "View and Edit". In the top right corner, you will find "Rule Editor", click on it and then open the condition which triggers the email (Fatal, Critical or Warning). There you will find the alarm message which will be used in the email.

If you find something like @message then alarm message is built via a variable. Click on the tab "Severity Level Variables" and find the variable there.

    Does that help?

    Kind Regards

    Nicola

  • I took a couple of days to pull alarms. I did see that Network Device Availability Check fired off at this time. I went to edit alarm Network Device Availability Check and it has different verbiage than the alarm above. In fact, I also get the alarm email from Network Device Availability Check when I get the alarm email from FSMCategory. I think it has something to do with Service Builder (Services\Service Builder). I have a Category set up to montoir devices in my OD domain and email a few people in that domain.

    Network Device Availability Check--
    Subject: @foglight_severity_level_name - Device is unavailable - @deviceName

Description: Fatal: Network device "@deviceName" is not reachable from @monitoringHost.

Please use the following URL to obtain alarm details. @foglight_rule_alarm_link

    Foglight Rule Name:
