SQL PI -> Databases tab slow or non-existent information

I'm trying to use the "Databases" function within the "SQL PI" section.

Once I get into this, the grid view loads but in most cases, the data columns are either extremely slow to load, or in some cases, never load at all.  I've had a couple of cases where I let this sit for over 10 minutes and the data never loaded.  I've tried using the Foglight refresh icon and F5 in the browser.  No effect.

And when it does load, the "Database Space" column sometimes doesn't even populate with a graph.  Or if it does, every single database has the same graph (that screenshot not shown but it has happened several times):

We have 3 separate instances of Foglight running and all 3 behave the same way.  And this isn't the Federated instance.  These are all the children instances.

I'm hoping there is a setting somewhere I can change to allow this data to be stored somewhere for instant access?  I understand it has to read tables\index's and what not, but not loading at all in some cases is not good.

  • Hi John,

The databases dashboard in SQL PI typically comes up quickly in systems. I have seen this occur however on systems where the CPU reservations have not been applied for virtual machines running the SQL PI repository. CPU and Memory reservations is a product requirement for SQL PI on VMs for both stability and performance. A lack of reservations is the most common cause of SQL PI issues.

The collected SQL data is stored within the external postgresql repository database used by SQL PI and cannot be stored locally.

If the CPU and memory reservations have been configured on a virtual machine, or if the PI repository is installed on a physical server, then I would recommend opening a Service Request (SR) with Support to investigate this performance issue.
