SharePoint Backup uninstall directions

As part of our Change Management requirements, I am required to include instructions for uninstalling SharePoint Backup, as a rollback measure, in my SharePoint Backup installation plan.  However, I cannot seem to find any direction on how to uninstall SharePoint Backup on the Metalogix website.  Can someone please tell me where to find that?

  • Hi Bill,

Please refer to the steps below:

    1. Open the SharePoint Backup console and take note of (a) where the services are installed by going to the Configuration tab on the bottom left, and (b) the name of the repository database and which SQL server host it by going to Tools > Preferences > Management Service.
    2. Use Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features to uninstall the SharePoint Backup console. It will be listed as Metalogix SharePoint Backup.
    3. Use Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features to uninstall the SharePoint Backup services from each farm machine where it is installed (WFE, APP, and SQL). It will be listed as Metalogix SharePoint Backup Service.
    4. Remove the Self Service Recovery solution, if installed, by going to Central Administration > System Settings > Farm Management > Manage farm solutions and look for metalogixssrsolution****.wsp, where **** is the version of SharePoint you are using such as 2007, 2010 or 2013.
    5. Delete the SharePoint Backup repository database, which has a default name of Metalogix_BackupRepository. You can see which SQL server host the repository and its name by going to Tools > Preferences > Management Service from within the SharePoint Backup console.

    I hope this helps.

    Cyrus
