How to protect against AD security breaches and insider threats? Find out at Microsoft Ignite!

Remember Hank the Hacker? Hank is a fictional character we created for a recent webcast series around Active Directory security best practices. Hank represents hackers that appear in many shapes and sizes and who love to exploit the security limitations of AD, Azure AD and Office 365. Hank the Hacker will send cyberattacks on your email, he’ll block login access with ransomware, he’ll use pass-the-hash techniques to authenticate your password…in fact, Hank’s so smart he’ll have angry ex-employees and careless co-workers feeding him what he needs to create a serious data breach.

That’s right. The insider threat to AD security is real, pervasive and costly, as 62% of security professionals say insider threats have become more frequent in last 12 months and are far more difficult to detect and prevent than external attacks. And whether an intentional malicious employee or even accidental changes made by careless employees, insider threats can cause as much damage as externally initiated attacks. In any scenario, AD security breaches and insider threats can result in significant data loss, large penalties and fines. In fact, the average data breach costs an organization on average $3.62 million, according to the 2017 Ponemon Institute study.

So – are you ready to do what’s necessary to stop Hank the Hacker and a million others like him?

Come see Quest at the Microsoft Ignite conference in Orlando, Florida. Yes, that’s right. Quest is back at Ignite, and you can visit us in booth #717 for drinks, food, daily raffle prizes and expert advice on how to #STOPHANK. You won’t miss our booth – just look up toward the ceiling and spot this picture of Hank.

But what I’m most excited about is we have one of our long-standing customers joining me for a 75-minute breakout session titled, “How to protect against AD security breaches and insider threats?”

In this case study session, Ed Panzeter, Senior Systems Engineer for Universal Health Services, shares best practices and strategies for protecting Active Directory and Windows Server from potential cyber security breaches and insider threats.

Learn how Universal Health Services, an 8-year Quest software customer, works to stay ahead of today’s security threats with proactive measures to:

  • Identify security threats and vulnerabilities quickly with continuous, real-time monitoring of AD and Windows file servers
  • Protect file servers from ransomware and other intrusion methods
  • Maintain security permissions and privileged access throughout Active Directory consolidations following their continuous mergers and acquisitions

My and Ed’s session will take place Thursday, September 28 from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM.  Be sure to sign up for the session on the Microsoft Ignite session builder, and don’t forget to come by booth #717 to meet the Quest team.
