Comparison between Migration manager for AD exchange and on demand migration for Email

Hello All,

I need your help to find out quest solution for AD and mailbox migration for below scenario.

As a part of acquisition many users (2000 users) will be migrated to another new forest (it contain only AD) and we wanted to migrate these users mailboxes to office 365 from current AD. 

There will be no exchange server in new forest . Migrated users in new forest will be sync to office 365 using Azure AD connect. 

I heard that MM for AD can be use to sync AD user from current forest to new forest .

can we use MM for AD and exchange , or we can use On Demand migration for emails to migrate mailboxes office 365. 

Kindly provide your guidance and experience with these tools.

    Hi Sandy, 

    For 2000 users you will want to use Migration Manager for Exchange to move the mailboxes up to Office 365 if they are on an on-prem Exchange Server.

    Speak with your Account Manager to setup a discovery call with a Solutions Consultant who can dive deep with the technical aspects of your migration so that it is a success.

    Thanks for the update Chris.

    But I wanted to do it in lab environment , before implementing in production environment. 

    We havent purchase any quest license yet , so i dont think we can go with solution consultant .

    Can we use MM for syncing user , group accounts from one forest to other forest.
