Netvault & VMware best practices

Hi Community,

I'm curious to know how do you plan your VMware backup on NetVault. I'm wondering if we are using the good plan, i explain :

Each week-end we do a full backup then each day a differential backup. I'm searching to reduce the backup time of my full, for example maybe some of you are doing only one full backup at initialisation ? i have never test that.

Regards,

Ben

  • Hello

It depends completely on your environment. You can do a Full once a month then all other days of the month do incremental (differentials will go to the full and backup changes, so it will take time if you do full's only once a month)

You can do weekly full then other days incremental or differentials, but if you are looking to reduce the times to do full backups once a month with incremental should make the work.

Also try enabling Change Block Tracking and Active Block Mapping to save time and resources, you can read more about this 2 in the Netvault Vmware Plugin User Guide in the support portal
