Creating Subsites for each databases or locating them under Document folder (Default) in a SharePoint site ?

Hello,

I have 106 Notes Databases, which I would like to migrate to an already created SharePoint Site as Word Docs.

Is it better to migrate these 106 databases to the Documents folder in the mentioned SharePoint site (Document folder has automaticllly created while creating this site) ? or is it better to create SUB-SITES, for each databases that intent to be migrated ?

For both cases, I could not succeeded to create new folders for each Database intent to be migrated. I would very much in need of a guidance with regards to this issue and would really appreacite for any help.

Best regards,

Cagri

  • Hi Cagri,
The "Documents Folder" that is created as part of many standard SharePoint site is not really a folder. It is a Document Library. SharePoint stores pretty much all of its contents in either Document Libraries (for binary files) or Lists (for pretty much everything else - including pre-defined special list types for events, tasks and discussions).

How you want to story this data in SharePoint depends very much how you want to work with this data in the future, and what your overall SharePoint design is.
