PDF Attachments not uploading into SharePoint -> .pdf file is missing

Hi Guys,

I hope you can help. I have been tasked to migrate all content out of Lotus Notes into SharePoint 2013 (lucky me, i know) and have run into an issue with a small number of documents. The issue is that certain attached PDF files that exist within Lotus Notes forms are not uploading into SharePoint, and where there was a link within the LN Form, this is blank. In looking into the error logs, the error message to all the PDF attachments follows the same results...

"Unable to embed file 8601xx_12tum.pdf to BÅGFILSBLAD, STÄMPELORIGINAL   BAHCO BY SNAP-ON.docx. 8601xx_12tum.pdf is missing"

In the above '8601xx_12tum.pdf' s the attachment filename, 'BÅGFILSBLAD, STÄMPELORIGINAL   BAHCO BY SNAP-ON.docx' is the parent word document filename to be uploaded into SharePoint.

It mentions, the .pdf file being missing, however this can be opened within Lotus Notes and I have also been able to save the .pdf so it definitely exists. For reference, the .pdf documents in question are around 120kb in size so definitely is not due to a size restriction.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Luke

  • Hello Luke,

Thanks for posting to the Migrator for Notes to SharePoint (MNSP) forum. I understand you are experiencing issues with migrating PDF attachments from Notes to SharePoint. I have some additional questions to better assist you:

1.) What is the exact version of MNSP you are using (Help | About)?

2.) What are the source and target data definitions you are using?

3.) Within MNSP Designer | Notes (tab) | Preview, are you able to locate the PDF and links under the Rich Text View at the bottom?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Trevor,

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly, in answer to your raised questions, please see below:

1.) What is the exact version of MNSP you are using (Help | About)? Version 6.11.0.2763

2.) What are the source and target data definitions you are using? These are custom templates that are made up of the following:

    Source:

    - RenderAttachments (Attachment Type -> RenderWithForm)

    - OtherAttachmentLinks (Attachment Links Type -> Document Level ONLY)

    - Attachments (Attachment Type -> Document Level ONLY)

    - RenderHtml (Render Type -> HTML Option)

    - RenderEmbededObjects (OleObjects Type -> RenderWithForm)

    - RenderImages (Image Type -> RenderWithForm)

    - plus the rest of database metadata fields

    Destination: SharePoint 2013

Files (File Type -> Alternative Folder '_Attachments')

The odd thing is that a range of attached documents are uploaded, but a lot of others are not. The mappings between source and destination are as below. As you can hopefully see, these all point to the Files property.

3.) Within MNSP Designer | Notes (tab) | Preview, are you able to locate the PDF and links under the Rich Text View at the bottom? I don't believe so. In the Document Properties within Lotus Notes these

Any help would be greatly asppreciated, thank you again.

    Kind regards,

    Luke

  • Hello Luke,

Thanks for the update and additional information. I don't see anything that stands out as a cause for certain documents not being migrated. Have you found that certain document types (PDF, DOC, DOCX, etc) are migrating properly while other document types are not?

It sounds like this issue may require more investigation. In order to protect your data, we would suggest creating a Service Request for this issue:
