Rapid Recovery restore mailbox database failed

Hi,

I have Rapid Recovery 6.1.3. I protech my two exchange 2013 server in DAG mode. All the backup seems fine, the green dot is there beside each recovery point. When I try to open a database with incremental backup, I always have an error that the core service cannot be reach. please reach network connection and if the service is running. I run the local mount utility directly on the core server.

If a try the base recovery point it's open database and I can restore data. It's the only recovery point I can restore, even the next incremential after the base isn't working. I change the options in local mount utilty for the timeout for the core at 20 minutes.

I try to stop core service, restart it, reboot the server, nothing change.

All my other protected machine I can mount the recovery point without problem, it's just the incremental exchange database that doesn't works

My core service is a DL4200 appliance.with 128Gb of RAM with currently use only 20% of RAM and 1 or 2% of CPU

Can I do something to correct the bug?

Thanks

Guillaume

  • Do you have more than one NIC on the DL appliance? Are they configured for more than one IP range? If so, it might be worth looking at the Replay Engine IP also. The Replay Engine IP should be configured to whatever the first NIC in the binding order is. If you only have one NIC, then it's probably not the Replay Engine IP. Though it's still worth looking at it. To see the Replay Engine IP go to the core console -> settings -> Replay Engine IP.

Francis has some good suggestions related to trying to mount the recovery point just through the core to isolate if it's an issue with LMU not connecting properly or with the actual RP.

  • Hi Tim, I have 8 NIC on the DL applicance (two physical adapter with 4 port each), only two port is connected and it's in team mode with the Broadcom BACS application in LACP mode connected on a Cisco switch in port-channel. The virtual nic (teamed nic) is the only NIC with a network IP

I can mount in writable mode the drive which contain the edb and log file when I use the core console instead of LMU. After When I use the mailbox restore and want to open the database, the exchange system path is invalid. The EDB path and log path is ok but where i need to point for the exchange system path?

    Thanks

  • even if I didn't point the exchange system path the database can be mount and I can restore data in incremential recovery point. So it's working if I mount the drive before with the core console and after use the mailbox restore database.

So I think it will be interresting to open a case to see with it's not able to do that with the LMU
