Tables which do NOT have supplemental logging enabled. Goal: For tables which do NOT have supplemental logging enabled, we want to capture changes as they happen on the standby database. If we use SharePlex with the Standby Database as Source Database, can it take care of the tables which do not have supplemental logging to the Target Database

Great question - unfortunately, the answer is No. Without supplemental logging on the source, the information required for SharePlex won't be in the redo logs. The StandBy only gets what's in the redo logs

Minimal supplemental logging is a must for SharePlex to process the data from Redo logs.

What we have:

Oracle Physical Standby (Being replicated by Oracle Active Data Guard from PROD) - Read Only DB
There are two types of tables which are being replicated from PROD:
1. Tables which have Supplemental Logging Enabled.
2. Tables which do NOT have supplemental logging enabled.

Goal:

For tables which do NOT have supplemental logging enabled, we want to capture changes as they happen on the standby database.

If we use SharePlex with the Standby Database as Source Database, can it take care of the tables which do not have supplemental logging to the Target Database

Thank you Clay. So, for the tables WITHOUT Supplemental Logging, the information in the ReDo Logs is not enough for log mining applications like SharePlex to recreate the SQL needed, right?

For such tables, the replication using Active Data Guard does it block level. Right?
