VA change port - Replication Failed

Dear Quest,

I can't replicate my VM because hosts are no accessibles.

I know that VA and vCenter are communicating on port 443.

But my vCenter is accessible on an other port for security.

Can I change the communication port on VA and replace 443 by an other?

Thanks,

Regards,

Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

You can change the vCenter default port (443) in the inventory view. The default port of the VA (22/TCP SSH) cannot be changed at the moment. The required ports between the VA and the vCenter are 443/TCP and the 902/TCP. The communication between vRanger and the VA is 22/TCP.

  • Hello Alexis,

    Thank you for that answer.

To change the default port of vCenter, it is in the "credentials properties"?

I already put the correct port here: 8443

For security reasons, we changed the vCenter access port to 8443 instead of 443.

The problem I think is that the Virtual Appliance was always going to connect to vCenter with 443 instead of 8443.

How can we change that in virtual appliance?

    Thank you.

  • The VA shouldn't connect to VC using 443 if you have already set 8443. The backup command with the correct port is being sent by the vRanger server, so if the VA is not picking the correct port number, that would be a defect that we need to investigate. If this is your case, please create a support case so we can help you with this.

The only port you cannot change would be 902/TCP which is used by the VA to connect to the hosts.
