Thanks for your interest in Quest On Demand, your go to SaaS dashboard for tackling Microsoft challenges in a hybrid world. I'm Shawny Reiner, senior strategic systems consultant at Quest, and today I'm going to take you on a short tour of the On Demand license management license type analysis feature.
If you've taken any of the other tours, you know that ODLM provides an at-a-glance, in-depth usage and cost analysis of your Office 365 licensing. With ODML it's easy to understand who is or isn't using provided licenses, as well as what is and is not provisioned in the tenant.
Before viewing this tour, a good video to view first is the license management dashboard tour because it provides a quick, high level view of each of the specific functional aspects of On Demand license management.
The data on the license page is displayed in a simple table that lists all the license types available, paid for, free, and trial. And the information per license type is the total number of licenses, the total assigned, the total available, and the expiration information. And just like any of the data points in ODLM, the information can be filtered using multiple filters.
So for example, if we filter by department, say the sales department, now we can see what has been assigned to just the users in the sales department, which begins to paint a picture of license allocation. If we want to focus on a single license or compare licenses for this department, say our E3 and E5 licenses, we can add these to the filter.
So we simply find our E3 license and we find our Office E5 license, and now we can see that zero E3 licenses have been allocated and one E5 license has been allocated to our users and sales.
This gives us a quick understanding of license allocation throughout the organization. And this knowledge allows us to begin planning for new purchases, reallocation initiatives, even license upgrades or downgrade projects. And that information, combined with other powerful features of ODML, like cost analysis, license by product, and license discovery with user information allows for educated decision making that drives the organization towards successful results that align with its initiatives.
