Quest CCU not working via VPN but working for LAN

Hi All,

I have been trying to see what is the issue for a few days and am confused as to why this the CCU is not working when on VPN but working on LAN.
I have even allow full access for a particular IP (bi-directional rule) across the firewall but no matter what I do, the migration via VPN will stil fail.
The symptom that I have is that there will be a pop-up, asking user to enter the credentials in AD and once entered, nothing happens and that dialog box dissapear.

I have increase the logging (looked up in google for the changes) and once more, the logs are also puzzled.
I have compare the logs between a working (via LAN) and a non-working laptop (via VPN), and the difference that I can see is....

Working
Trace 0x0 QueryUserDialog( eventSignalCheck ) = 1 CacheCredSvc.cpp Line:1656
Trace 0x0 Backup cache credential. CacheCredSvc.cpp Line:1951
Information 0x0 BackupCache() CacheCredSvc.cpp Line:597

Non-working
Trace 0x0 QueryUserDialog( eventSignalCheck ) = 0 CacheCredSvc.cpp Line:1656
Trace 0x0 StopUI() = 33C CacheCredSvc.cpp Line:1377
Trace 0x0 StopUI() = 0 CacheCredSvc.cpp Line:1377

I was hoping if there is someone here who could advise me what is actually wrong.
Thank you.

  • The problem could be related to the VPN's configuration or its interaction with your network setup. In my case, after a lot of trial and error, I realized that the VPN was causing some conflicts with the credentials authentication process.

    So, I switched to using proxy addresses instead, and it made a significant difference. I specifically opted for an anonymous proxy, which is essentially a residential address used exclusively by me. It's quite affordable too, costing only $1.7 per month. This switch eliminated the headaches + saved some money from my wallet.
