Predictive Diagnostics for SQL Performance Tuning in Oracle

Beyond simply incrementally improving our ability to reactively tune SQL, we need to recognize the value in anticipating SQL problems and correcting them before they occur. We call this predictive SQL tuning or predictive diagnostics. DBAs need to be able to mitigate problems that can reasonably be predicted to occur in the near future. 

The predictive diagnostics feature of Spotlight on Oracle Xpert facilitates this, enabling the DBA to predict a number of problems that can be encountered by an Oracle database and actually prevent their occurrence to reduce issues and cost hits.
