The FICAM Framework: Challenges and Guidance for Federal Identity, Credential and Access Management

Federal Identity, Credential  and Access Management (FICAM) refers to efforts in the federal government to tie together a number of different cybersecurity-related initiatives, driven by numerous Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memoranda, presidential directives and legislative mandates. Benefits of these initiatives include increased security and compliance with mandates, improved interoperability, enhanced customer service, elimination of redundancy and increased protection of personally identifiable information (PII).
