Imaging Windows Tablets and Other UEFI Systems over the Network with KACE

Imaging Windows Tablets and Other UEFI Systems over the Network with KACE

Tablet imaging woes? We understand. Windows tablets employ the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), which prevents them from using the Preboot eXecution Environment (PXE) to boot a new image from the network. To get around this issue, many IT pros save an image to a USB drive and manually image each tablet one at a time. Uh, in companies with hundreds or thousands of people using tablets, this process can take a little while.

Luckily, we’ve got a simple workaround. This tech brief outlines the steps for automated imaging of Windows tablets and other UEFI devices using the KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA) and KACE Systems Deployment Appliance (SDA) to deploy an image over your network from the SDA.

Discover how this method also works great for:

Networks and devices that cannot use PXE
Users who want 100 percent unattended imaging
Tablets connected to the network using Ethernet
Self-service re-imaging
