Jaeb Center for Research Relies on Quest KACE to Keep Systems Updated

I'm from the Jaeb Center for Health Research in Tampa, Florida. We primarily focus on eye disease and diabetes research. I'm a senior LAN administrator. I've been there for six years. And we have 150 some end points that we manage with both the SMA and the SDA. The business problems that are trying to solve before we got KACE-- there's definitely imaging our machines for our new employees and existing employees, as we replace machines every year. KACE has definitely help us ramp that up and solved all of our issues with both the SDA and the SMA. We use the SMA for managing all of the software deployments and upgrades in our networks for all of our endpoints. Before I had KACE, the problems that were affecting our business were how to keep software constantly upgraded. We had nothing that would control all of our software and let us know when something was out of date. We would have to rely on an IT workstation getting those updates and then go around and manually update them on all the other machines. KACE helped solve those issues by giving me one place to be-- import all of the software that I want to upgrade or install to it, and then click a nice button and it goes out to where I need it to go. I ran into a couple of people that did not have the SDA and I would ask them why. And they're like, well, we're using a thumb drive to install Windows and then put all the software in. Like, you can save yourself eight hours of time and squish it down to say, a half hour. To give an instance, last year I downloaded the BIOS update and it took out the root partition of 57 machines. If it wasn't for the SDA, it would have taken a full week to get all of those machines back up and running. I worked for 23 hours that day to get everything back up and running and I was done. What I love about KACE overall, it's a big family that you can tell everybody really enjoys working with each other. Everybody really enjoys working with their customers and answering questions. All the resources that KACE has given us and constantly provides us for the ever-changing hardware and software for the SMA and SDA is extremely valuable. And that's just what I love about it.
