When privileged accounts are compromised, it’s game over

See how global processor manufacturer, Cavium, protects its intellectual property while enabling the business to run optimally with One Identity Safeguard.
[MUSIC PLAYING] My name is Abe Smith. I'm the Director of Enterprise Security for Cavium in San Jose, California. We are a global company. My responsibility is worldwide for protecting information and security.
The business units are driving me every day to open the access more and more to countries that do not respect intellectual property. Everybody wanted full rights, privileged rights. And because we didn't have a tool like Safeguard, we had to give them everything because the other option was to give them nothing. And therefore, when I came here it turned out that everybody had admin rights and we needed to protect our intellectual property.
The intellectual property we have is worth hundreds and millions of dollars, and people would much rather steal it than purchase it. Therefore, it is my job to give the most secure access property. That is giving access to the right people at the right time through the right resources, and only for the time they need it. And that is what Safeguard allows me to do.
Right time is the critical thing. Most people change their passwords every 90 days or every 60 days. Safeguard allows me to change the password on a daily or hourly basis and which really dramatically reduces the exposure we have of a password being stolen and misused. Its a much more user-friendly product. It allows me to implement it more quickly, easier and it allows me to give more granular access to the users. So today I no longer have a binary option of giving saying yes or no. I can now say yes and here is how we do it.
I chose Safeguard over other products because we're a small company and our budgets are shrinking, and resources we have are limited, and I needed to have as few vendors as possible with the breadth and depth of the products I need. And One Identity provides me with that. The umbrella of products that they have working synergistically together allows me to have fewer vendors.
They have superb support. They have very good customer support, sales representation. So I'm very comfortable with the products they're recommending. So I'm going to be going more and more to replacing other products or buying only One Identity products as much as possible.
Controlling, having visibility, and control over privileged access is one of the most important things that you can do. And I think a product like Safeguard of One Identity will provide you with that. So you don't have some kind of privileged access management that should be one of your top priorities because once a hacker has gained privileged access on your machine, the game is over at that time. So I think at this point, one of the top priorities you should have in your portfolio should be to get privileged access visibility and control.
