Hello. My name is Robert Pound, a Product Technologist for the Toad Business Intelligence Suite. In this video, I will discuss how to connect to salesforce.com through Toad Data Point.
To begin, in Toad Data Point I will select create a new connection, and select Salesforce from the drop down list. You have several options when connecting to salesforce.com. First, we will use credentials and a security token. If you have single sign-on enabled in your salesforce.com instance, you may use your corporate credentials to connect.
For this, we will again choose create a new connector, and select Salesforce. Select the corporate credentials tab, and this will begin the authentication process. This warning message is to let me know that there's a background process initializing. If you wish to use single sign-on, but you're connecting from a Toad Data Point that's not on your corporate image, you have a third option to manually connect.
Again I will create new connector and select Salesforce. I will choose manual single sign-on, and you're presented with a list of steps. To begin, you log on to your corporate image and log into your salesforce.com account. From there at the home page, you copy the link at the top, and you paste it into Toad Data Point.
It generates a string that you then copy and paste into the same browser. Once I hit enter, I will be presented with a string that is generated, that I will then copy and bring back into Toad Data Point. Once it's copied in, I choose connect, and I've manually authenticated with single sign-on.
