How to blacklist an ESX host or VM in Foglight for Virtualization 8.8.5

My name is Chris Jones. And this is a very short video to introduce our new ESX I and VM blacklisting capabilities in Foglight for Virtualization 8.8.5. Let's take a look at what we've built. So Foglight Virtualization, and I'm currently on the VMware environment dashboard. Looking at the 2000 virtual machines and monitoring in this environment. Quite often, we find that in all environment of all sizes, that host in VMs that people just don't want to collect and they don't want to monitor. This is a great way to make sure that you're only looking at exactly what you need to be looking at in your environment. To do that, under administration, we've introduced a new feature called blacklisting. Just like an 8.8, we introduced user-level access where you can filter down the exact objects that a user can see when they log in, or a user group can see when they log in. Blacklisting enables us to further curtail that by actually controlling exactly what the Foglight for Virtualization agent is collecting from the VM or API. To do this, we come into administration, blacklist click add, and we can start exploring what's in our environment. In this case, I can expand any number of these virtual centers that we're monitoring from all around the world. And maybe I want to do this by VMs in template. So expanding this, I can see here there's two VMs and virtual machines in a particular center. Or maybe I want to use another discovered virtual machines or unsorted templates. If I expand into host and clusters, I can come in and start doing this by clusters or even the hosts themselves. Now, I would love to do this with a lot of different elements running in this environment right now. Hello, this is our live demo environment. So I'm just going to choose one, and I click save. And now we've added this to our blacklist. So anything listed here is blacked out. I can expand that. There are no virtual machines here, but I can actually see that this particular host is actually blacked out. So I'm just going to copy that name. I'm going to go back to my monitoring view just to show you what happens when you put that in. So I'm looking at all of my EXS across all of my virtual centers. Now, of course, I could change this and filter down to just one virtual center, but I'm just going to use my search objects here just so I can see exactly what's going on here. And so 10 6 1 5 2 11. That's it there. Clicking on that. And you can see right here we now have a call out on the UI that is saying this host is in the blacklist, so we're not collecting any of that data, and we're not collecting any of the data related to any virtual machine.
