Overview of Change Auditor for SharePoint

Hello. I am Neil Belfour, for one of the solution architects here with Quest. And today I'm going to demo Change Auditor for SharePoint. Change Auditor is an auditing framework application. But you only license it for which specific module you want to take advantage of. Today we're going to focus on the SharePoint module. It does support SharePoint On-Prem as well as SharePoint Online. The application is agent based as well as Microsoft SQL back ended. There are multiple consoles to be able to view and configure this information. This is the thick console that we're currently looking at. There is also a web console that's very similar to the thick console. And there is an additional web console which is very similar to Google search for your Change Auditor installation. But we'll focus on the thick console for purposes of this presentation. The first tab that you come across is the Overview tab. The Overview tab is pretty much in essence showing you your top agent activity, as well as your agent status, active as opposed to inactive. This screen does refresh every five minutes. So you're seeing the real time events scrolling by. You would use this tab for deployment of agents. All of our reports are within the Search tab. There are three categories of reports. There's built in reports. That built in reports are roughly the 600-plus reports that come inclusive with the application. If you customized any of these reports and wanted other people to take advantage of them, you can easily drop them into your shared folder. Your private folder, you're the one who's going to see. That's where you would schedule your alerts, real time alerts, as well as schedule the reports that you would want to receive, both by SMTP. Here is an example of a report that I did bring up when it came to SharePoint. And this happens to take in SharePoint Online. This happens to be one of the most popular views when talking about SharePoint. It's grouped by operation. So if you wanted to specifically delve a little deeper into an individual operation such as files being uploaded to SharePoint, now you would see the six events that are making up within this category. You can highlight any of these events. And you could easily see the who, where, what, and when, and even the origin of it. In this case, the who is me. Specifically what in this site, ARS 365 shared documents, CA Audit, CA Audit two, including this specific song, "Come To Me," was uploaded. So I can easily see that an MP3 file was uploaded. If I went into the next one, I would see another MP3 happened to be uploaded. Change Auditor for SharePoint. You would be able to track files being uploaded, folders being created, groups being added, even files being accessed. So that concludes this demo for today on Change Auditor for SharePoint.
